June 15, 2012 Update

So far the garden is flourishing, but that is typical of my history for the early stages of the season. The heartbreak and disappointment usually come later. Even the squash looks good right now, with full, healthy leaves. If the objective was to grow just leaves, I would be a Master Gardener.

I tried a staking system called the Florida Weave on the tomatoes. I saw it on You Tube. It’s working okay so far but when the plants get heavier with tomatoes I have my doubts it’s going to hold up.

The tomatoes look like they may produce a bumper crop and there are a lot of flowers on the cucumbers; a good sign. The fact that everything is doing so well can only mean one thing – hail storm.

About Truman

I find myself on the downside of my sixtieth year, older but not old, wiser but not wise, and still wondering what I want to be when I grow up.
